Introduction to Heïdi and Matthieu
Heïdi Sevestre and Matthieu Tordeur are two iconic figures in polar exploration and scientific research. Heïdi, an internationally renowned glaciologist, specializes in studying glaciers and the impacts of climate change. Matthieu, an explorer and the youngest member of the French Explorers Society to reach the South Pole solo and unsupported, combines his expertise in extreme adventures with scientific data collection. Together, they form a dynamic duo dedicated to raising ecological awareness and conducting research on polar ecosystems.
The Project and the Importance of SENA
From 2024 to 2026, Heïdi and Matthieu will undertake ambitious expeditions to Greenland and Antarctica. Their project aims to raise public awareness about the environmental challenges of polar regions while collecting crucial data on the effects of climate change. To ensure their safety and effective communication in extreme weather conditions, SENA, the global leader in intercom systems, is equipping them with the Latitude S1 helmet and the Snowtalk 2 intercom. These devices allow Heïdi and Matthieu to stay connected at all times, even in the worst fog or storm conditions. Heïdi emphasizes the importance of this connection: “We communicate a lot throughout the day thanks to our connected Sena ski helmets. We keep each other updated on the weather, snow conditions, and it even allows us to listen to music to stay motivated.”
The Importance of Field Testing According to SENA
For SENA, field testing is crucial to ensuring product performance and reliability. “It is vital for us to see our equipment in action under the most extreme conditions,” explains a SENA representative. Heïdi and Matthieu’s expeditions provide the perfect opportunity for this. The Latitude S1 helmets and Snowtalk 2 intercoms, specifically designed for polar environments, enable clear communication even in strong winds, offer long-range connectivity, and withstand harsh weather. Heïdi particularly appreciates these features: “The helmets not only keep us in constant contact but also allow us to listen to music during long kite sessions. This can really make a difference in maintaining morale and energy, especially when our legs are tired at the end of the day.” Through field feedback from Heïdi and Matthieu, SENA can continuously improve its products to meet the needs of adventurers and scientists, ensuring their safety and comfort.
